Growing Up with Technology: From Telecom Curiosity to Automotive/Marketing Insight

Fun Fact: I was a huge tech enthusiast before being an automotive and marketing enthusiast.

​Since the age of 11, I started to get interested in the services of Korean wireless carriers SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+, from basic phone plans to unlimited smartphone plans and data sharing(connected device) plans, and the wireless technology each company uses, such as WCDMA, CDMA, and LTE.

​My interest in telecommunication services expanded into interests in electronic manufacturers as I used numerous devices from Samsung and Apple, such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8+, Galaxy Watch Ultra, iPhone X, and iPhone 6, and got interested in what features do each company and its product(s) distinctively offer, and expanded into interests in U.S. wireless services and technology as I use and compare Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and MVNOs’ services and features since high school. I also used online forums to share my experience and knowledge in wireless services/technology and in Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone device features/troubleshooting, and assisted online users by answering their questions related to these topics.

​Through these activities, I ultimately grew my enthusiasm for technology—and possibly also developed an understanding of real-life business, marketing, and communication concepts.

​My enthusiasm for technology shifted into my enthusiasm for automotive when I visited the Hyundai Motor Studio in 2019 and experienced the latest Hyundai Motor Company vehicles: I got fascinated to discover that the navigation/display audio system supports phone connectivity features such as Bluetooth and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, integrating automobiles with the technology ecosystem.

​Although my current enthusiasm for technology is not as extensive as it was during my teenage years, I continue to have a significant interest in technology as I keep up to date with wireless services and manufacturer offerings and experience/compare the features of wireless carriers and Samsung/Apple smartphones.

​I have numerous technological related personal stories and analyses to share: for instance, from how I became from a passionate Apple enthusiast to a critical observer of Apple, how Samsung’s and Google’s genuine innovation precisely match my daily needs, useful consumer tips for choosing a wireless service and smartphone that fulfill specific needs, and useful technology tips that Reddit users either don’t want you to know about or expect as common knowledge.
